THE COLUMBUS INVITATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL
A Division of the High School Band Directors National Association, Inc.

GENERAL INFORMATION

This is a music festival where my students can perform, have fun, get quality comments from an acclaimed panel of adjudicators, and grow in their music education.

Entry is available for Middle School, Junior & Senior High School:

  • Concert Band

  • Mixed Chorus

  • Men's Chorus

  • Women's Chorus

  • Jazz Band

  • Full Orchestra

  • String Orchestra

  • Solo Competition

Each music group will perform two selections from their state approved list of large group festival music.  

Groups have the option of performing a warm-up piece.  Each music group will receive a score of Superior (I), Excellent (II), Good (III), or Fair (IV).

Rating Category

85-100 Superior
70-84 Excellent
50-69 Good
Below 50 Fair

 

Classification

Music selections are categorized into six levels with Level Six being Extreme Difficulty and Level One being Easy.
(Some states categorize levels by letters; i.e. AA; A; BB; etc.)
Utilize your states' rating system.
Groups may enter any level of their choice.
Categories may be split by no more than one level. (i.e. 4-5)

A $50 Non-Refundable Registration is required before groups are entered in the festival events.

 

Minimum of 12 student musicians in each performing group required for festival participation in all packages.
